When discussing the subject of fashion trends and music, it is important to remember that one is influenced by both during their formative years and later in life. Music is a way of conveying meaning and it certainly has an impact on the youth of today. The styles that have become popular over the last few years have been inspired by the music industry such as Nelly Furtado’s “Earned It” or Britney Spears’ “Hit Me One More Time”.

While we can no longer hand pick the music of the future, there is still plenty to be learned from the past. One thing that we do know is that over the past 10 years or so, the music industry has had a profound impact on the fashion trends that we see and hear. This means that those with an ear for good music have had a hand in creating and influencing the latest looks and styles.

While the fashion industry cannot be accused of having a hand in determining what is hip and what is not, they sure have had a big say in making certain looks become the rage or the trend. For example, over the last decade or so, the “snob” look has become a huge hit. This consists of wearing clothing that is either very tailored or very expensive. The reason that this particular look became so popular is because it was reminiscent of the music world – smart, sassy and urban. It also represented something that many music artists were able to express on the fashion runway such as Britney Spears’ “Hit Me One More Time”. With music as a major influence on our fashion trends, it is likely that we will see many more trends come to life before we have even heard of them!
